Handloom chanderi silk Ajrakh printed banarasi red color saree.
Ajrakh is handblock printing technique, traced around 5000 years old ago. Its complicated hand-block printing method from Sindh (now in Pakistan), Kutch, Gujarat (India) using natural colors extracted from minerals, metals, camel dung and vegetables, fruits. Its motifs are inspired by nature like Sun, Plants and Stars and resembles geometrical shapes. It holds the legacy from Indus Valley Civilisation and evidence of Ajrakh is found in Mohenjodaro excavation as well. It undergoes 16 process in making a single piece of saree which takes around 15 to 21 days. The earthy tone derived from natural pigments gives it a classy look.
The traditional Indian fabric of Chanderi is known for its sheer texture, its light weight and splendid drape. Uniqueness of this saree is its handwoven chanderi fabric, intricately weaved floral motifs of Banarasi zari in border and pallu and the earthy tone and prints of Ajrakh. This amalgamation makes it a masterpiece.
