Description

Ajrakh is most ancient around 5000 years old, complicated hand-block printing method from Sindh (now in Pakistan), Kutch, Gujarat (India) using natural colors extracted from minerals, metals, camel dung and vegetables, fruits. Its motifs are inspired by nature like Sun, Plants and Stars and resembles geometrical shapes. It holds the legacy from Indus Valley Civilisation and evidence of Ajrakh is found in Mohenjodaro excavation as well. It undergoes 16 process in making a single piece of saree which takes around 15 to 21 days. Its natural pigments makes it ideal to wear in both summers and winters.
